Are we really ~ F R E E?

How do we spell freedom?Freedom can be the privilege of choosing what to say, when and where. It can be the privilege of how we are educated, who we work for or what kind of business we develop. It can mean the opportunity to choose where we want to live, what kind of vehicle to drive, what we eat or how often we exercise. But, are we really FREE? For me, F R E E D O M is all of the things I’ve listed and More! We all know that our freedom has not been Free!
Many have paid the highest price for us to obtain it. I am talking about the true freedom to choose what we want to do or become.  Freedom around our finances. Typically, we live beyond our means via the use or misuse of credit cards, car loans, equity lines or second mortgages. We justify our means of living on more than we make by saying we have gotten the new house, now we need new furniture. Or, we live in a nicer area and work at a great job so we need a nicer vehicle, and so on.  The credit that we think we manage can soon begin to manage us or in essence, take us over.
We no longer can identify the line we drew in the sand. We eat out more often, shop for convenience foods, buy basic needs on a credit card, and gradually we are in over our heads. It may begin to feel much like a riptide. The spiral downward begins when the month comes that we cannot pay off the credit card, once thought to be “our friend in need.” We pay what we can and console ourselves by promising to catch up and pay it off next month. During the month, a real emergency may happen and we, perhaps a little more hesitantly, pull it out, still saying to ourselves this will be the last stretch, then I will get it back under control.

We won’t find our fulfillment in working to support our shopping habits, buying bigger homes and more expensive cars. Are you working at a job you are unhappy with just to pay for stuff you don’t need at a cost you cannot afford to impress people you don’t even like? It may be time to have a heads up!

We soon find ourselves like 72% of other Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck with nothing in reserves with which to fall back on.  Now what? There is a better way!

Having attended and completed *Dave Ramsey Financial Counselor & Coach Training, I have good news for You! There is HOPE! Regardless of what your financial situation looks like, I can guarantee that you will relieve some stress by talking to someone who is able to offer you some options.

The better news is that Dave has written a book “The Total Money Makeover” that can help you put your feet on the path to true financial peace!  You may ask, “Will it be easy?” Not always, some steps will be easier than others. But it is doable and you will experience real results and financial freedom to choose, IF, you are willing to get on board, (both spouses, if married), and stay the course.

If you are single, I recommend an accountability partner who can ask you the tough questions, and you will give them permission to do so.

You will be challenged to think differently, more importantly, you will be challenged to act differently. Changing your life and habits involves about 20% information and about 80% behavior.

So what do you have to lose? You can have real help to overcome sleepless nights, fear and dread of collection calls, and going it alone. What do you have to gain? You will be back in the driver’s seat of your finances and able to plan for a future you can look forward to and a plan that you can follow.

This will not be a miracle event. It will be like planting a garden and applying all the needed items and then tending and caring for it.

Over time you will experience reaping what you have sown in better financial decisions, which almost always result in better relationships.

Begin your journey back to financial freedom … Get started today!
